Instagram and photography

Good morning everyone, and welcome back to my personal site. Thanks to those who have the patience to follow my posts. A warm welcome to those who are here for the first time. The topic of this post is: Instagram and photography.

Founded in 2012, it is an American social networking service that allows users to take photos, apply filters and share them via the internet. Instagram was originally distinguished to only allow 1:1 aspect ratio images for the iPhone’s viewing width. These restrictions were eased in 2015, with an increase to 1080 pixels. The service has also added messaging features, the ability to include multiple images or videos in a single post, as well as a ” Stories ” feature, similar to one on its main competitor Snapchat.

I signed up to Instagram in January 2021, convinced by some friends, to post my nature photographs. Probably also to make myself known to users who shared the same interest as me, for photography in general, and for nature and macro photography in particular.

Apart from a few users, especially in the initial phase of my stay on the social network, I occasionally exchanged some experiences and had an interesting exchange of direct messages. In these 3 years, however, I have noticed a progressive apathy, a lack of interest in the content of the photographs. How happened to Instagram and photography ?

Instagram Photo Post

The only real interest was and still is, to receive as many LIKES as possible. A total loss of interest in photographic content, of any type.

I totally fell out of love with this platform, which had an originally interesting idea. That is, the publication of photographs. Today with the advent of AI-generated photography, the situation is even further different. You notice interesting abstract creations, but very often photographs and creations of a truly poor standard.

Therefore I’ve decided… and I realize that you will not be very interested in… To suspend the publication of content from next June 01, 2024. My time is always limited, and I would like to dedicate my free time to something more useful, stimulating and interesting. For the moment I will not delete myself from the social platform. I’ll wait to see how it develops in the near future.

Hoping that INSTAGRAM can at least partially convey the original and original meaning of publishing photographic content.

Thank you for the attention you wanted to dedicate to reading this post. See you soon !
