My evaluation after 10 months. This lens suffers from flare problems, due to the internal coating… a poor or insufficient internal coating. The producer declared MC (multicoating) as you can see in the photos at the top of the page. But in spite of this, photographing against the light generates a noticeable and evident flare effect. An invasive flare, which affect the photo. For the rest, when the photograph is taken with light behind the photographer; the lens behaves normal. With good definition and with discreet colors. Also focusing isn’t easy, and to get an acceptable picture, I always take more than a few pictures; knowing that you have to definitely discard some anyway. I cannot suggest it, also if could be as usual a problem connected to my own specimen. At the end the lens has a good mechanical quality, and an acceptable lens quality, but the flare problem is considerable, and the use is consequently limited.
As a final consideration, the F3.5 lens is among the 28mm produced by Minolta in the 70s the least qualitative. I researched extensively on the internet and read user reviews and ratings. The great majority, while not mentioning the flare problem that I encountered, largely prefer the F2.8 variant. Especially the version MD, both for the quality of the optics and for the mechanical part. In essence, this lens is among the least appreciated by users who are passionate about vintage lenses. *** This lens was sold on January 03, 2023 ***
